Privacy Policy

ShapeHaven Innovations LLC ("ShapeHaven," "we," "us," or "our") operates ReturnIQ, a Shopify application that provides AI-powered return analytics and intelligence for e-commerce merchants ("Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you install and use ReturnIQ on your Shopify store.

By installing ReturnIQ, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Shopify Store Data

When you install ReturnIQ and grant the requested permissions, we access and store the following data from your Shopify store:

1.2 Data Generated by Our Service

ReturnIQ generates the following data based on your store information:

  • AI-generated product risk scores
  • Return reason clusters and categories
  • Actionable recommendations with expected impact estimates
  • AI-rewritten product descriptions
  • Aggregated analytics and trend data

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Payment card numbers or banking information
  • Customer passwords or authentication credentials
  • Social Security numbers or government IDs
  • Customer browsing behavior or cookies on your storefront
  • Data from stores where ReturnIQ is not installed

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Return Analysis: Analyzing return patterns, identifying root causes, and generating actionable insights to help you reduce return rates.
  • AI Processing: Sending anonymized product and return data to our AI provider (Anthropic's Claude API) to generate recommendations, risk scores, and improved product descriptions.
  • Dashboard & Reporting: Displaying analytics, charts, and metrics within the ReturnIQ application interface.
  • Service Improvement: Improving our algorithms, features, and user experience based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
  • Communication: Sending email digests with return analytics summaries (if you opt in to this feature).
  • Billing: Processing subscription charges through Shopify's Billing API.

3. Third-Party Services

ReturnIQ uses the following third-party services to operate:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Storage Location: Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States.
  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).
  • Access Controls: Row-level security (RLS) policies ensure each merchant can only access their own store's data. Administrative access is limited to authorized ShapeHaven personnel.
  • Isolation: Each store's data is logically separated using unique store identifiers. No merchant can view another merchant's data.

5. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as ReturnIQ is installed on your Shopify store and your account remains active.
  • After Uninstall: When you uninstall ReturnIQ, we will delete all of your store data from our systems within 30 days. AI-generated analysis results are deleted along with the associated store data.
  • Anonymized Data: We may retain anonymized, aggregated data (which cannot identify you or your customers) for service improvement purposes.

6. Your Rights

As a ReturnIQ user, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You can view all data ReturnIQ holds about your store directly within the application dashboard.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us or by uninstalling the application. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • Portability: You may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format by contacting us.
  • Correction: Data synced from Shopify reflects your Shopify store data. To correct product or order information, update it in your Shopify admin and re-sync.
  • Opt-Out: You may opt out of email digests at any time through the application settings.

7. GDPR Compliance

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland:

  • Legal Basis: We process your data based on your consent (given when you install ReturnIQ and approve the requested Shopify permissions) and our legitimate interest in providing the Service.
  • Data Controller: ShapeHaven Innovations LLC acts as the data processor. The merchant (you) remains the data controller for your customers' personal data.
  • Shopify GDPR Webhooks: ReturnIQ responds to Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks, including customer data requests, customer data erasure requests, and shop data erasure requests.
  • Cross-Border Transfers: Data is transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our Service, you consent to this transfer.

8. CCPA Compliance

For California residents:

  • We do not sell personal information to third parties.
  • You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
  • You have the right to request deletion of your personal information.
  • You will not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Customer Data

ReturnIQ accesses limited customer data (email addresses and order history) from your Shopify store. Important clarifications:

  • We access customer data solely to provide return analytics (e.g., identifying repeat returners).
  • We do not contact your customers directly for any reason.
  • We do not use customer data for marketing or advertising.
  • We do not share individual customer data with any third party.
  • Customer email addresses sent to our AI provider are excluded from AI analysis — only product and return reason data is sent.

10. Children's Privacy

ReturnIQ is a business-to-business service designed for Shopify merchants. It is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Notify you via the ReturnIQ application dashboard for material changes.
  • For significant changes affecting how we process your data, we will request your renewed consent.
